“Words to live by…”

Sometimes we are looking for the right word but just can’t find it.

We come across a lot of similar words,

the ones

that capture the meaning

the essence of what we are trying to express

but are missing a crucial something.

I was having that feeling.

I came across the word ‘arete’.

The Greeks, in all their wisdom, came up with a single word that carries with it one of the greatest pursuits of humankind.

Arete is a concept in ancient Greek thought that, in its most basic sense, refers to ‘excellence’ of any kind.

Arete means ‘to exist to your full potential’.

It isn’t about impressive job titles, money, fancy cars, facebook friends or social media fan following we have.

It’s about existing…

existing beautifully to your own potential,

to your own definition of success.
